FC – Dental Bridges at Fibonacci Dental Studio

Tooth loss is a significant dental issue for individuals of all ages and genders. It can create challenges with speaking and chewing, and even cause surrounding teeth to shift out of place. At Fibonacci Dental Studio, we recognize that replacing missing teeth is crucial for maintaining your long-term oral health and confidence. A dental bridge is one of the most reliable and effective solutions we offer to restore both function and aesthetics to your smile.

Under the leadership of Dr. Laura Davies, DDS, our team provides personalized treatment plans using state-of-the-art technology. We are committed to delivering exceptional care that restores comfort and helps you smile confidently again.

What Is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is a custom-made dental restoration designed to fill the gap left by one or more missing teeth. It consists of an artificial tooth, known as a pontic, which is anchored in place by crowns attached to the natural teeth or dental implants on either side of the gap. These supporting teeth are called abutment teeth.

At Fibonacci Dental Studio, we craft each bridge with precision to match the size, shape, and color of your natural teeth. This meticulous approach ensures the restoration blends seamlessly with your smile for a durable and long-lasting result.

Why Replacing Missing Teeth Matters?

When a tooth goes missing, it may initially seem like a minor disturbance. However, in due course, such an absence may lead to complications. Untreated gaps may result in the following:

  • Difficulty chewing and speaking properly
  • Uneven pressure and strain on your remaining teeth
  • Shifting of adjacent teeth, leading to bite misalignment
  • An increased risk of gum disease and tooth decay
  • Bone loss in the jaw due to a lack of stimulation from the tooth root

A dental bridge resolves these issues by restoring stability to your bite and supporting your overall oral health.

Types of Dental Bridges

Since every patient's needs are not the same, we offer several types of bridges to suit different cases:

  • Traditional Bridge: This is the most common type, where the artificial tooth is held in place by dental crowns secured to the teeth on each side of the gap. It is an excellent option when you have healthy, natural teeth to serve as anchors.
  • Cantilever Bridge: This bridge is used when there is an adjacent tooth on only one side of the gap. While less common, it can be an effective solution in specific cases.
  • Maryland Bridge: A more conservative option, the Maryland bridge uses a metal or porcelain framework bonded to the back of the teeth next to the gap, avoiding the need for crowns. It is often used for replacing front teeth.
  • Implant-Supported Bridge: For patients missing several teeth in a row, this bridge is anchored by dental implants rather than natural teeth. This method provides outstanding stability and helps preserve the health of the surrounding teeth and jawbone.

Dr. Davies will conduct a thorough evaluation of your oral health to recommend the most suitable type of bridge for your specific needs and goals.

The Dental Bridge Procedure

Getting a dental bridge usually takes several steps:

  • Initial Consultation: Dr. Davies performs a comprehensive exam, including digital imaging, to assess your oral health and discuss your treatment options.
  • Tooth Preparation: For a traditional bridge, the abutment teeth are carefully reshaped to prepare them for crowns. For implant-supported bridges, the implants are surgically placed and allowed to integrate with the jawbone.
  • Digital Impressions: We use an advanced CEREC Omnicam scanner to take precise 3D digital impressions of your teeth, eliminating the need for uncomfortable traditional molds.
  • Temporary Bridge: A temporary bridge may be placed to protect your teeth while your permanent restoration is being fabricated.
  • Final Placement: Once ready, your custom bridge is securely bonded or attached. Dr. Davies will make any necessary adjustments to ensure a comfortable fit and proper bite alignment.
  • Follow-Up Care: We provide detailed instructions on how to care for your new bridge and schedule follow-up appointments to monitor its success.
